UNL Equestrian Team

The UNL Equestrian Team is a group of about 30 students that practices and competes together within Zone 7, Region 1 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). IHSA was established with the purpose of promoting competition for riders of all skill level and regardless of financial status. For all riders, these IHSA competitions help develop sportsmanship, team enthusiasm and horsemanship.

Announcements:

Jingle Bell Ride! Join the Equestrian Team on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 4-5:30 around the East Campus Loop to collect toys for CEDARS. Team members will ride around the loop on horses decorated for Christmas. CEDARS needs toys for all ages of needing children, especially teenagers. Bring the new, unwrapped toys to anywhere on the Loop, or stop by the front of the East Campus Dairy Store for cookies and hot chocolate with the Equestrian Team.

Congratulations to both the Hunt Seat Team and the Western Team on a great start to the show season! On October 3 and 4, the Hunt Seat Team competed at Colorado University. Check out our pictures page soon for photos from UNL’s first-ever Hunt Show! On October 11, the Western Team competed at Colby Community College. The team was named High Point Team, and Mindy Leach was named High Point Rider. Due to inclement weather, the Saturday show was cancelled, but there are plans for a make-up show later in the season.
