--Bryan Reiling’s NACTA Teacher Fellow Award received on June 19 at the annual meeting in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Lisa Karr-Lilienthal’s application for an eXtension Companion Animal Community of Practice has been approved. Lisa will serve as co-leader with Amy Fischer from the University of Illinois.

CASNR Class Acts. The Spring issue of the CASNR Class Acts has been distributed. If you did not receive a copy, you may obtain one from your suite secretary. The publication has includes the following Animal Science-related articles:
--The “Current Topics in Animal Agriculture” new course that is taught by Jeff Keown.
Dennis Brink - received a certificate of recognition for contributions to students by the UNL Teaching Council and UNL Parents Association at their annual recognition ceremony on January 30.
Matt Spangler - received a $500 travel award from the IANR Research Travel Selection Committee for his participation in the April Beef Improvement Fderation annual meeting in Sacramento.
Chris Calkins - has been asked by Harvy Perlman to serve on a faculty committee to review and respond to the external committee's report on Life Sciences in IANR. Chris invites faculty to offier their guidance as things go forward. He will ne receiving a copy of the report wil have a chance to contribute to the faculty reponse.
Lisa Karr-Lilienthal's appointment was changed from Assistant Professor of Practice to a tenure-leading Assistant Professor effective January 1.
Chris Calkins received $25,250 from the Nebraska Beef Council for his project entitled "Tenderness of Beef from Cattle Fed Wet Distiller's Grains Plus Solubles and Supplemented with Vitamin E."
Sheila Scheideler received $18,000 from Zinpro Corporation in support of her poultry research program.
Phil Miller received $43,500 from Pioneer for his project entitled, "Evaluation of Soybean Meal."
Sheila Scheideler received funding from the ARD selection committee for the Mussehl Poultry Research Endowment for the following projects:
"The Effect of an Enzyme Cocktail of Xylanase, Amylase, and Pretease and Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles in Laying Hen Rations: Nutrient Digestibility, Gut Viscosity and Microbial Population of the Gut" -- $25,000
"The Effect of Social and Environmental Enrichments on Behavior and Welfare of Turkey Hens" -- $24,604
At the November 2 Gamma Sigma Delta Banquet:
Rick Rasby received the Extension Award of Merit,
Bryan Reiling received the Teaching Award of Merit,
Dennis Brink competed his term as President, and
Wan-Ling Hsu was initiated as a new member.
Matt Spangler received $4,000 from the American Angus Association for his project entitled, "Trends in Mature Weight and Analysis of Residual Weight."
